Week 191

Oct 24-30

The week before Halloween and we are in full fledged pumpkin mode!  First off in this post is Jack's class trip to the Pumpkin Patch.  It was the cutest thing!  To be perfectly honest with you, I was a little nervous to accompany a bunch of 3 year old's to a farm, but it was actually a lot of fun!  This particular place was perfect for the kids.  It was a family owned farm.  Apparently First Presbyterian has been going there for their "pumpkin patch field trip" for years and years after some of the other local places proved to be a bust.  We were the only school there, it was completely catered to the kids, and it was organized.  Successful outing!  We started off with a quick class pic (nice idea while they are still happy and clean!).  Next was the hay ride to the "pumpkin patch," which was really a field with a bunch of pumpkins that had been placed there before we got there.  Fine with me.  We paid $5.00 up front and they supplied us with a HUGE pumpkin.  The kids got off the hayride and walked over to whatever pumpkin they wanted.  They then got in line and took a picture sitting on their pumpkin.  We rode back to the house and played games for a minute while they got together our snacks.  The kids had small tables and a plate full of kid friendly food.  It was great!  While the kids were eating, someone was painting faces.  After all of this we played some more games, and then it was time to go.  The kids never skipped a beat or got bored, but played the entire time.  Jack was so worn out!  Here are some pictures from our morning.

Awww!
Later in the week we went to the "pumpkin patch" as a family.  There really aren't many real pumpkin patches in the south and the ones that are real only have itty bitty pumpkins because the weather is so hot.  We went to a local church to buy some pumpkins, but after seeing how expensive they were we just got some small ones for the kids to paint.  Since Jack already had a big pumpkin we had planned on buying 3 more big pumpkins.  Yeah...that wasn't happening.  I know you guys are tired of hearing about budgets, but these pumpkins were ridiculous!  For a decent sized pumpkin they wanted $30.00!!  That would have been nearly $100.00 for our family to get 3 pumpkins.  No thanks.  We got some pictures, bought a couple small pumpkins, and were on our merry way.  We attempted to go to a couple of grocery stores for big pumpkins, but everywhere else was sold out.  Oh well.  We had a lot of fun playing in the "patch" and looking at all the things they had to offer.  We got some fun pictures.  That is all that counts!  :)

Running up to the pumpkins.

I loved all of these pictures! Especially the ones of Jack and his friends and Abel carrying the baby pumpkin! His faces are hilarious.

P.S. I'm surprised you guys couldn't get a decent sized/priced pumpkin at Wal-Mart.

Hey,

Abel looks so much like Joel (my nephew, Susan's kid, who's now 15 and enormous) did at that age. I'll try to scare up an old picture and send it to you. Your boys are both so cute!
