Week 105

Mar 2-8

We have been up to the usual...work, work, work. :) This particular weekend I was off from work, but Ed still had to finish part 2 of his first responder course for firefighting. So once again, Jack and I were on our own. What to do? I kept seeing signs for the "Melbourne Strawberry Festival." Upon further investigation I found that there were rides for kids, strawberry pancake breakfast, and face painting. We were in!
I went with my neighbor and friend Kareen, and her two kids Tristan and Aubrey. She has gone the last few years so she was my expert. Before Ed left that morning the one thing he requested was for me to bring back something "strawberry" like jam or whatever. We figured they would have everything made out of strawberries.
So we get there and start with the pancake breakfast. It was delicious and cheap! I think we got like 3 big pancakes covered with strawberries and whipped cream, choice of sausage or bacon, and an orange juice to drink. Mmmm. I had my coffee so I let Jack delve into the pancakes and I ate some of what was left over. It was more than enough for the two of us.
After breakfast we figured we had better do something entertaining for the kids so we went over to the area with bounce houses, slides, etc. It was awesome! The rides were super cheap and as long as there wasn't a line Jack could pretty much bounce around as long as he wanted. He bounced in one house so long that I felt bad and gave them more tickets. He loved it! I was a little nervous because there were bigger kids in there, but Jack didn't seem to care at all. He totally held his own and bounced his little heart out. We all know how much Jack likes to jump!
One of the houses had a ladder type thing and if you climbed to the top you could slide down. Once he figured it out he did it over, and over, and over. It was all very cute! They even had a little train that he rode (all by himself). He was in heaven! He pretty much thought it was the best place ever! After all the jumping and riding I figured he could slow down a bit so I decided to get his face painted. I hesitated because I know he is not even 2 and getting your face painted requires a kid to sit still for awhile. I just told myself, if he changes his mind in the middle of it and won't sit still we will just stop.
He surprised me. He sat still the whole time while the lady painted him into a tiger! It looked so cute!!!! He could NOT stop looking at himself in the mirror (or anything with a reflection. It was hilarious!

After the face painting we did a little shopping and what do you know...the Strawberry Festival did not sell any type of Strawberry Jam whatsoever. I thought to myself they have to have a strawberry pie...or strawberry shortcake. Nope. They only sold strawberries like they do at the store. Who cares? I was kind of disappointed in that. The only thing I found for Ed that he can't get anywhere else was some spicy mustard that a lady was selling. Poor thing. No strawberry jam. :(

It was still a ton of fun though! Jack had a blast!!!! It was a great day (would have been better with Daddy there, but still a great day).

Week 104

Feb 23-Mar 1

This week we were ready to get out of the house after being sick last week. Jack and I went on a play date with my buddies from work...Angi and Lindsay. They work in Radiology and are awesome. Angi also invited her friend Nikki. We went to the zoo but decided that this time instead of the animals we would hang out in the water park area. It finally opened after "winter" and the kids were very excited about it.
Of course it is still Feb/Mar so the water wasn't exactly bath tub temperature...it was chilly, but the kids really didn't even seem to notice. I think they all had a blast! I love this play area because the deepest part isn't even up to Jack's belly and all of the pool area has a kind of soft, cushioned material to walk on so he can run around as he pleases. Here are some pictures. I don't have much to talk about today so I will just let you enjoy pictures of the kids! :)

Week 103

Most of the beginning of this week was spent with what I am calling The Plague of 2011. At least it was at our house. Now here is the thing that amazes me. I have been working at hospitals now for 7+ years. I have been sick (truly sick to where I had to call out of work) one time. Jack's first year and a half of life he never really got sick because he didn't go anywhere. The average person gets sick a few times a year...there have been quite a few times when Ed got sick from work or wherever and Jack might have gotten it. I never get it.

Jack praying before eating his hotdog. :)
Fast forward...ever since Jack started going to "school" aka daycare a couple of times a week for 2 hours a day, we have all been getting sick. I work in an EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. I get exposed to a million germs a day and I NEVER get sick. Jack goes to day care once and I am on my a** for almost a week. It is crazy! What kind of germs are in daycares? This daycare is REALLY clean too. It doesn't even smell like pee (and I think they all smell like pee).
So Ed, Jack, and myself spent quite a few days on the couch. We watched many Disney movies and just attempted to recover. I hate being sick.
I love these pictures...they show how much he looks up to his Daddy!
On a better note this past Tuesday we were all finally feeling better and had the opportunity to attend a local baseball game. It was Military Appreciation Day so we got free tickets. The game was at 1:00 pm and it was perfect. Jack just had a mid-morning light snack so he would be hungry. We had decided a few days prior that we were treating ourselves to hot dogs and "ball game food." Mmmmm....there is nothing like a hotdog at a baseball game!!!
It was a beautiful day outside. Jack watched the game for a little while and then of course became restless. We found a section of bleachers where no one was sitting so we walked over there and took turns following him around. He climbed up the stairs, down the stairs, up the stairs, etc. He had a ball! Then we decided to get him some cotton candy. He doesn't get sweets very often so he thought it was the best thing ever! I must admit, it was pretty good. I haven't had cotton candy in forever!

Attempting to get a nice shot with the field in the background...didn't happen.
After about an hour and a half Jack was done. I had worked the night before so I was tired too. We went ahead and left...got home around 3:00 pm. Jack took a nice nap when we got home. I rested too. Ed worked out and did homework. I am so proud of him! He has been working so hard to get in shape for firefighting. He also has been working hard on his degree. He graduates this spring and I can't wait! It seems like he just started school and now he will have a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science! It is AWESOME!! :)
This past week in the middle of our sickness I had my first OB/GYN appointment. I have pictures...will post more about it on the Pregnancy blog.
