Week 107

Mar 16-22

Happy Anniversary!

This week Ed and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. It truly is crazy how fast life goes by. The funny thing is that Jack just turned 2 years old and it seems like the first three years are a second in time compared to the past 2 years. All of the years have passed quickly, but it is hard to imagine what our lives were like before Jack. Sometimes it doesn't really seem like there was a time that he didn't exist.
So anyways for those of you who know us well you are aware that we technically have two wedding anniversaries. This particular one is when we were "legally" married and the second one is our actual wedding ceremony with friends/family. Long story short we got engaged in December of 2008, started planning our wedding for November 2009...both being in the military at the time we had to get legally married to attempt to get stationed together. It didn't even end up working (I got out of the USAF so we could live together) so it was kind of pointless but still fun to celebrate twice a year. :)
We went to a fancy schmancy dinner at this great Steakhouse called "The Firehouse". They have the best steaks around and are located in this beautiful area of Downtown Historic Melbourne, FL. We got all dressed up and had a very nice, intimate dinner. The wonderful Ashley babysat for us so Jack was well taken care of.
We don't usually do gifts on anniversaries but we happened to do them this year. Ed looked up the traditional 5 year anniversary gift and discovered it was wood. He got me a BEAUTIFUL wooden jewelry box engraved with the date and both of our monograms. I have wanted a jewelry box for a long time and I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! He always gets the perfect gifts.
My gift to him was an album that he had given me years and years ago before we were even married...he always mentions it and asks if I am ever going to put anything in it. Well I filled it with pictures of us starting from when we first started dating up until now. The album was engraved with "One Day" which is something we both used to talk about when we dated..."One day we will live together, one day we will be married, one day we will have a family, etc." I put in all of the things we always aspired to do and told him that we needed to make goals for the next 5 years. I will update it for our 10 year anniversary and give it to him again.
Happy Anniversary to the BEST husband in the whole world! :)
