I have to show you our empty house "campsite" that we had set up for a few days. It was quite creative, yet functional and simple. All of these pictures are from my blackberry, so not the usual Nikon quality that you guys are used to. I apologize. These are just some sneak peaks of the house in the middle of the unpacking progress. As soon as we are completely finished I will take pictures of the house! :)
Our truck came and delivered our stuff! :) Surprisingly there wasn't too much lag time in between loading the truck, driving it from FL to SC, and unloading. There are times when you might not be the only load on the truck so they have to go somewhere else to pick up more things and that can make it take a long time. They packed our truck Tuesday, drove Wednesday, and delivered Thursday. Sweet!
The day before our stuff was to be delivered I dropped Jack off at Ed's moms house for an overnight stay so he wouldn't be in the way of the movers. We figured they would arrive first thing in the morning. That didn't happen. Somehow there was a mixup between the driver and the helpers...and we did not get a delivery van until 1:30 in the afternoon. Grrrr. It was frustrating, but luckily they brought plenty of help so the unloading was complete by 5:00 pm.
That kind of ruined our plan of trying to get some things unpacked before Jack was to get back that night. We were exhausted. Luckily my MIL saved the day and kept Jack for a second night so my mom and I could try to unpack as much as we could the next day. We got the kitchen and living room unpacked as well as most of Jack's room.
Throughout the weekend we continued to plow through boxes and unpack/put away as much as we could. I had to take frequent breaks and wasn't allowed to lift things so that kind of slowed us down. We made some progress.
Monday I had my first doctor's appointment here in SC. The office staff were very efficient and pleasant. Even though the practice is quite large, I will only be seeing one doctor for the rest of my pregnancy. He is a maternal fetal specialist and works exclusively with high risk pregnancies. Very nice and he took the time to explain everything he has planned from this point on in my pregnancy.
Because I have gestational diabetes and with this pregnancy have started on a low dose of insulin at night, he explained that increases the risk of a still birth. A normal pregnancy has a 1-2% risk of still birth. A pregnancy on insulin increases the risk to about 2-4%. Odds are still in my favor that everything will be fine, but he said that due to the increase in risk they take some actions to monitor baby very carefully.
Once a week along with my regular check up I will have a BPP (biophysical profile). It is a test that includes two parts: first an ultrasound that measures activities a normal baby would complete such as movement, swallowing, breathing, muscle tone, heart rate, etc. The baby gets a "score" after the ultrasound. The second part of the test is a NST (non stress test) which is basically where you get hooked up to a monitor for 30 minutes and measure how much activity baby is having and whether or not babies heart rate is increasing slightly with the activity (which is considered healthy).
The ultrasound is worth 80% of the score and the NST is worth the other 20%. Baby has to get 8/10 to be considered passing to the next week. If baby does not pass, I get an automatic admission to the hospital where more testing would be done. If baby passes, I get to go another week in my pregnancy. A little scary, but this baby is very active so I'm not too worried about passing these tests. My first BPP is this Friday.

glad you got a good dr so late in the game!! now... you wait and wait :) LOVE all the pantry space. i got nothing! just a spinny 2 level under my cabinet in the corner. i dream of having a nice pantry... maybe one day! glad yall are getting settled in.
Hey Misty! Yes we are very grateful for the pantry. The last house we had didn't have a food pantry and it was frustrating to waste cabinet space for food. Thank goodness for that pantry though, b/c other than that we don't have a whole lot of cabinet space for dishes and pots/pans. We creatively fit everything in though. :) How are you guys doing? We need to get the babies together sometime soon. You are much more busy than I am so when would work for you guys?
i know roger's chomping at the bit to see yall and ed! jack and hailee would have a ball together :) um, the only time we're really home together is on the weekends now. this weekend i'll be studying like mad for my 1st 2 big tests next week. maybe next weekend sometime?? how is yalls weekend schedule? we can be pretty flexible with ours.
We are pretty flexible on the weekends normally. Next weekend we are going to the beach with Ed's family. If there is no baby the next weekend, maybe we can meet up and hang out! :) Once the baby comes we will be much more flexible. Hope you have a great week at school!!! You can do this!
