Week 157

Feb 29-Mar 6

We are a little over a week into our money saving adventure. So far we have been quite successful in cutting excess spending. I think since we are both so busy with school, work, and the kids it's hard to find time to spend money anyway. The only extra expenditure we are looking at right now is Jack's birthday party, but it's really not that much. I will blog more on that later.

If you too are trying to save money with kids, here is a fun activity for you. It gets you all out of the house, is fun, and educational. The Library. I have come to realize that the Library is not what it was when I was a kid. In the past two weeks we have been to our local branch of the library and then also to the Main Library downtown. Both had a huge section for kids, both had a large selection of kid books, and they both had an impressive collection of DVD/Blue Ray movies.

At the Main Library we met up for the baby story time. It was supposed to be 12 months and under, but they kindly let me bring Jack since I have two kids. Smartly, the kids section is the entire basement. They had a private room off of the children's section for the story time. There were blankets laid out on the floor, and they had quite the turnout. There were dimmed lights, music, props, multiple stories, and even a puppet show. Both Jack and Abel were entertained for the entire time.

Afterwards they spread out a bunch of books and let everyone read on their own. Jack helped Abel with his books and it was so cute. When we were done we went and picked out our books as well as a bunch of movies. They give you big bags for your books and you have entertainment for the whole week. I might make this a routine outing for us. You get to keep the movies for a week at a time and the books for two weeks. You can check out up to 60 items on each card. Amazing.

Next week is Jack's birthday! Can't wait! :)

Such cute pictures, I have just found your blog and have loved reading it. I am a fellow mummy blogger from Ireland. I agree the Library is a great place to go for free. I'm looking forward to following your blog.
