Sept 28-Oct 4
Our second week with Baby Abel has gone very well. Ed is on terminal leave and obviously I'm not working right now so we have both been home to enjoy some quiet family time. For the most part we have stayed in the house except for a couple of small outings. I think we are getting used to the zombie like state of new parents. We are still woken up throughout the night when Abel is hungry, but it's really not so bad. We find time to get a little sleep in.
Abel's little umbilical cord stump fell off so we are able to give him a "submerged" bath now. He has a cute little "innie." I love little baby baths. They smell so nice when they get out and you dress them in their pajamas. It just makes you want to smell their little heads and snuggle them. Abel really seems to enjoy a nice warm bath. Here is a picture of big brother Jack helping get his bath ready. So cute!
When we were at the hospital they had shirts in the gift shop that said "big brother" and "little brother." We put them on the boys to get some pictures and they turned out super cute. Abel didn't want to cooperate at first, but he got into it. Jack is so cute with him. He always kisses his head and wants to know where he is at all times.
Most of these pictures are just of us around the house. This week my Grandma (or as Jack and Abel call her, 'Gigi') came down to visit and meet her newest Great Grandson. Aunt Caroline also came down from Clemson to see Grandma and the baby since she only got to actually see the baby for a few hours when he first came home.
On Monday Abel had his 2 week checkup. He is still exclusively breast fed and continues to eat at a phenomenal pace. He weighed in at 10 lbs 12 oz. and had grown over 1/2 an inch already. The pediatrician said he is 95th percentile for his weight and 90th percentile for his height. So far taking after his big brother. Jack is usually on the upper side of the charts for height and weight. Currently he is off the charts for his height. We are going to have some big boys when they get older!!!
