This week we were able to witness a blip in history. The last shuttle launch STS-135. We are privileged enough to live on what is called "The Space Coast" in Florida. We have seen many shuttle launches from our back yard. One time we even got to get on base to one of the closest spots a civilian can get to witness a night launch. We have been very lucky. This is the end of an era and we got to see the tiny blaze of orange in the sky followed by a cloud of white smoke.
We even had some friends drive down from SC to see the launch. I was so happy when it didn't get scrubbed (aka delayed or cancelled) which happens a lot. Everything has to be practically perfect in order to pull off such a feat. Ed got Chuck and Aaron passes to get on base for a better view. They seemed to enjoy themselves. Jack and I stayed back because he had school and I had some things to get done, but I made sure to take a peek at the sky when the shuttle launched.
We enjoyed having Chuck and Aaron as guests. Jack had new people to play with and we got to make lots of good food! We love cooking! :) We made ribs, potato salad, corn on the cob, and chocolate eclair pie. Mmm! It was nice visiting with them and we can't wait to move to SC so we can hang out more often!!!
In other news we are still working on the big move. Ed has been making calls and appointments to arrange the packers, movers, etc. I put in my notice at work. Jack and I will probably be arriving in SC on or around August 8th and our stuff might not get there until the 15th so we will have to figure out what we will do for a week. This weekend coming up I am having a yard sale. We have so much purging of "stuff" to do. One fun thing about moving is that you get to go through all of your stuff and organize it. I love streamlining everything.
Not much else to report. :)
