Week 119

June 8-14

Beach, Beach, Beach!!!!!

We have been soaking up the sun as much as possible! Knowing that we will not live so close to the beach soon, we are taking advantage of it as much as possible. It's so easy to jump on the bikes and take a 3 minute ride over to the beach. There is endless fun in swimming, jumping waves, building sand castles, digging big holes, etc. We are all getting more tan than we have ever been! :)
This week we had some visitors...Mimi and Gigi. They drove down from Columbia after going to Aunt Caroline's graduation from high school. Jack loved the extra attention and had a blast! Gigi LOVES the beach so we decided to go down one morning and let Jack play while we sat in our chairs and talked. It was nice. He is finally at the age where he pretty much entertains himself. I am very proud of how he stays near us and doesn't run off. He goes in and out of the water, but is very cautious not to go too far. Usually he just goes to fill up one of his buckets with water.
Later in the week we went swimming with the twins Charlotte and Vincent. We had planned on the pool but forgot that they are closed on Monday. I fall for it every week. I almost went yesterday before realizing it was once again Monday and they would be closed. Anyway, we quickly changed our plans and met up at the beach instead. Jack loved playing with his friends. They were super silly and ran around for about an hour in the afternoon after nap time.

We will continue to enjoy the beach as much as we can! I just ordered a new pregnancy bathing suit since mine is starting to get too small (it's not even really a pregnancy one). We have a few more weeks of sunshine Florida. Hope everyone is having a great summer!!!!

Week 118

June 1-7

This blog post is mostly about how we spent our Memorial Day. I just wanted to take a moment to recognize a special person we had in our thoughts on this day. Army Sgt Robert Sisson Jr. who made the ultimate sacrifice to assure the rest of us our freedom in America. Thank you for your service.

I was fortunate to have Memorial Day weekend off and since it is a federal holiday, Ed had it off too! We woke up and had a nice family breakfast together, and then talked about what we wanted to do for the day. We had already agreed that we wanted to have a nice family day with Jack, but hadn't yet made official plans. We thought maybe the beach...but we do that all the time. The park...boring and hot. Then Ed remembered there must be some kind of parade on Memorial Day and he looked it up online. We found one in Downtown Historic Melbourne and decided we would give it a try!

Scoping out a spot in the shade!

Waiting patiently for the parade to start...

Hurry up parade!

Hot! :)

We all got ready, drove down to the parade, parked, and found a nice spot in the shade. Jack was super excited. We told him he would see a band, fire trucks, police cars, etc. He patiently waited for the parade to start. While we waited there were police men on motorcycles driving up and down the parade route. One stopped in front of Jack and gave him a shiny gold sticker shaped like a police badge. He thought it was so cool!!

Waiting for everything to start...

Clapping his hands for the parade!

Cool antique fire truck!

When everything finally started Jack couldn't keep his eyes off the action. At some point people passed out American flags and Jack just kept waving his in excitement! He saw tons of neat things like antique cars, floats honoring those who gave their lives, fire trucks, groups marching, bands, etc. It was pretty cool! The whole thing took around an hour and after it was done Jack looked at us and said, "More parade, please!" It was so cute!

He sees the horses!

Waving his flag at the fire truck!!!!

Family shot!

Bye Parade!

We had a great day! I love family days off of work! :)
